JBR at the ITS fair

July 1, 2018

For 35 years, JBR'er has been advising Kees van Biert managers within the tugboat industry. This has given him a special position within this sector.

The ultimate event for the tugboat world is the International Tug, Salvage & OSV Convention and Exhibition, or ITS for short. At this bi-annual convention tugboat owners, builders, engineers and suppliers from all over the world come together. No wonder Kees is a loyal visitor of the ITS convention and feels right at home here.

But Kees is not alone in advising the tugboat market; JBR has a Maritime and Offshore team that jointly advises the sector. And then the sector is bigger than just the tug market, also port authorities, terminal operators, maritime and inland navigation, offshore service providers, dredgers, shipyards, suppliers to the maritime industry and training institutes are part of our client base. However, the tugboat market has a special place within JBR.

The ITS is held each time at a different location in the world. This time Marseille was the meeting place for the experts in towing, salvage and offshore services.

This year, not only did Kees go to the convention, but JBR was present with its own stand.

The stand acted as a meeting place for the old and new relations of JBR. While enjoying a coffee, a wine or a beer, they could discuss business. "Meeting" was one of the reasons for the stand at the fair.

The other reason for the stand was the opportunity to get further acquainted with the complete Maritime and Offshore team of JBR. Besides Kees van Biert Ronald van Rijn , Caspar van der Geest, Rick ter Maat, Mirthe Lantman, Margo Blikman and Sonja Welbergen were present. Because JBR has a leading role within the GMAP Maritime & Offshore Cluster, Ben Vree was also present in the role of ambassador of this cluster.

The stand was crowded: for a chat with one of the team members, for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and also to watch the JBR presentation with the developments in the maritime and tugboat sector and the JBR company film.

Captain's Dinner

On the occasion of Kees' 35th anniversary as a consultant to the towing industry, JBR had organized a Towage Captain's Dinner. More than 50 captains of industry from Europe, Asia, South and North America gathered for an informal get-together. In a beautiful location, the terrace of the Sofitel Marseille Vieux Port with a breathtaking view of the old port of Marseille, an animated dinner took place, during which the captains discussed the challenges in the industry.

After three days of fair with nice conversations, new insights, nice people and a lot of fun we can now place our whole team under the denominator "tug fanatics". It was a very successful event.
