We keep track of developments around digitisation in order to help our clients with these challenges. We see that the effective use of existing knowledge about digitization can save costs and time. We think that sharing knowledge about digitization, between different sectors, has a lot of added value.
Digital transformation offers (even in times of crisis) unprecedented opportunities for society. However, in practice, digital transformation faces various challenges. In order to test our assumptions on the added value of knowledge sharing between sectors and to better map out the challenges of digitisation, we have carried out a survey conducted.

The following points are the main messages of the survey conducted:
Thus, we conclude, that across the different sectors the importance of digitization is recognized but it is also clear that the digital transformation has only just begun and poses significant challenges. The will is there, but the path is not yet clear. Many companies have taken measures on a strategic level, but often the translation to practice is missing.
We also see that participants believe that their company or sector can greatly improve its performance on digitisation. Participants from all sectors see many opportunities for learning through knowledge sharing with other sectors, but partly think that their company or sector can share less relevant knowledge than other sectors. It appears that participants often underestimate their own sector in that respect. In fact, participants from other sectors managed to name examples of unique knowledge for almost all sectors.
To successfully digitize, it is crucial to realize that different digital initiatives have a different impact on the organization, time horizon and risk level. Therefore, a digital transformation needs to be organized and managed as a strategic portfolio with an adequate balancing of risk, time and value creation. For an optimal digital transformation strategy, it is important to have insight in the value drivers, the way they can be influenced and success can be measured.
In addition, it is important to make a choice per element of the transformation for internal development or addition by acquisitions (make-or-buy) and to determine the right speed of implementation. In some cases, the transformation can lead to a new (digital) business model and create unprecedented opportunities. Besides knowledge sharing between sectors, case studies are also relevant sources of learning and inspiration.
