Study of effects German energy transition

Mission

Major construction company examines effects of German energy transition.

Background

The 'Energiewende' in Germany, a transition from an energy supply based on coal and nuclear power to wind and solar, also has effects on the construction sector. Our client, a large Dutch construction company with holdings in Germany, wants to investigate the effects of this transition on construction assignments in opencast construction.

Problem statement

What are the short- and long-term effects of the German Energiewende on our opencast operations? What are resulting scenarios for our holdings?

Our contribution

JBR has, through desk research, interviews and its own market knowledge, collected the trends for the European, German and regional energy activities and translated them into effects for the regions where our client operates. After discussing this report, a number of future scenarios for the participations were outlined based on an internally obtained external analysis of the various activities.

The result

A comprehensive market study and future scenario for the holdings. This analysis supported the client in making its own portfolio strategy.
